the Tiananmen Mountains have been a fertile place for local legends and stories
for thousands of years.
It was believed in the past that the "Gate of
Heaven" is located in the mountains of China's Hunan Province just south
of Zhangjiagang City. And the scenes of the fairy but the ways to them scary is
a lot of twists and turns and are certainly not for the weak hearts
The 10-kilometer-long winding
road, called Tongan Avenue (or Avenue to Heaven), took eight years to build and
opened in 2006 with 99 lanes marking the nine palaces of the sky. Its highest
point is 1,300 meters above sea level.
The Sky Gate can be accessed directly
from the city using the cable car, the longest cable car in the world, with a
length of 7455 meters.
The sky gate is 131 meters high
and 60 meters wide and can accommodate a 40-storey building.
